The Benefits of Exfoliating Your Skin

Updated: Mar 21, 2018

Ladies and Gents - regardless of the season, exfoliating is always going to be your best friend.

Your skin faces the increase of dead skin cells because of the sun, cold weather, warm weather, and so much more. It doesn’t matter if you drink a million gallons of water each day, your skin still builds up dead skin cells that need to be exfoliated once a week.

How does it happen? When old skin cells start to pile on the surface of your skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough and dry. The build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores leading to blemishes and acne. As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers a fresh new cell below. Exfoliating allows for moisture to help the skin glow - naturally.

How to safely exfoliate? Use an exfoliating product (e.g., natural body scrub) and its method carefully. Make sure you read the ingredients and ensure that the products are all-natural and that the ingredients promote skin healthiness and do not contain harsh exfoliating agents for your skin. Some skin types are more prone to radiate more with sugar versus salt, and the difference between men and women's products are different. If you have questions about that email us directly at: scrubhers@gmail.com and we will break it down for you based on your skin type and the season.

Use an exfoliating scrub once a week and apply a moisturizer immediately to restore skin’s moisture.

The most effective way to use your exfoliating agent is to:

  1. Shower as normal.

  2. Turn the shower head away from your body

  3. Apply a quarter size of the exfoliating body scrub and apply in a circular motion on arms, chest, and back and repeat this quarter-size method to completely cover your body. This helps to remove the dead skin cells and start the regenerating process.

  4. Turn the shower head towards your body and rinse the body scrub completely off of your skin with warm water.

  5. Towel Dry and apply a moisturizer immediately.

It is important to note that during the warmer weather when using a proper exfoliating agent your skin will be so soft to the touch that you likely will not need to re-hydrate the skin with a moisturizer. The natural oils within the exfoliating body scrub should provide enough moisture for your skin with the humidity of the summer weather. It is also important to note that most all-natural body scrubs can be applied to your face, body and feet safely.
